explain this toymas celebration, I’m not very educated on this groups ins and outs of celebration, othe rthan toy soldier day, which was fun to walk outside with a sign acting like one of those anonymous wankers.

crap, why didn’t I upload that?!

Toymas is generally celebrated the same date as Christmas. We celebrate our friendships, loved ones, families – and anything that brought us happiness over the past year.

Of course, toys (or gifts) are an integral part of this celebration. The Army also usually does a Card Exchange around that time as well.

With “12 Days of Toymas” we attempt to write and post 12 Toymas themed short stories about the Digital Bunker and its inhabitants during the 12 days before Toymas, as a little gift of creativity to the community.

I think I’ve come up with three solutions to our problem:

    A. Change nothing, hope to “tip over”, basically what we’re doing now

    B. become more main stream, AKA sell out, I wouldn’t suggest this but it may get us a flood of new members

    C. Radicalize, or basically what I’m trying to do with my splinter group;Make it a legitimate movement and not just idealism and comicon recruitment centres.

Option A would effect the community itself the least, while option C. Can’t really be done with us being more laid back (except perhaps me) and B. would just be appeasement to the ones who don’t join because of branding.

One major problem with your ideas I see here is that there is no definition of whatever “selling out” or “radicalisation” mean. You basically use your very own, personal understanding to come up with a solution for an entire community.

For some, it’s already selling out to work with other groups and therefore compromise in some areas (e.g. uniforms, statements, etc.). In a way, we’re already doing that by not discussing politics on here and sticking to a PG13 rule for our creations or missions.

I don’t think radicalisation is an option as we’re way too diverse as a group to specialise on one idea(l). This includes a lot of us thinking that radicalism is no solution to anything, and a broad range of ideas of what a Utopian Playland actually is. It would also require members to be a lot more active. The way I see it, our main problem is not having not enough members and therefore needing more. One of our biggest problems is inactivity and lethargy. We could have 10,000 members but if only 3 of them share our work and ideas with others, that is pretty much useless, no? On the other hand, I don’t think we need anyone to actually join the Army, as long as we can get the word out there and people to collaborate with us. During our last Gaming Mammoth, we had one very active and kind streamer to stream with and for us, regardless of not being a Toy Soldier, and he did a formidable job at spreading the word. This is what we actually need, not thousands of dead forum accounts.

That’s why I styled my uniform after the Canadian Mounties. Much friendlier connotations.

Considering there are no rules about how to style your uniform (besides the colour scheme), that’s actually a pretty good idea. Also, if you have a look at the designs by Sgt. Grinner, you’ll see there are many ways to style your uniform without looking Naziesque.

Maybe we should communicate this better to the outside and come up with new and more fun takes on the TSU uniform. We’ve had a big variety uniform-wise in the past and will hopefully continue to do so. Maybe we could all brainstorm about our image a little and come up with new ideas.

any suggestions on how to recolour a hat that is dark green to black with yellow stripes?

Noting the fact that this is a 1960s style military hat

That would entirely depend on the material it’s made from. It may be difficult recolouring the dark green to a bright yellow though.

We’re still out here… Occasionally. I gotta admit, I would enjoy everybody popping in here more often. But as Dermut said, most activity is elsewhere. Discord is so much more convenient for chatting.

I should check the forums more often for sure. It is sad you decided to go, but I wish you all the best for your future journey. You’re always welcome to stop by for a cookie or two. smile

    How are the submissions going?

Well, so far we have a story by Danov and me (one each), two stories from Gonzo and a ton of ideas. No further submissions though. I may advertise it a second time in the FB group.

    Hi Izunamii,

I just popped in after months, basically. For various reasons I had no real time to check the forums, and for that I apologise. But even if the contest is over and sadly nobody contributed, I would like to give you some advice on future projects, especially contests.

    1) Social Media
Most of us don’t use the forum very actively. If you want people to know about your project, you’ll have to reach out to them via Facebook, Twitter, etc.

    2) Notify the codemonkeys
We can help you spread the word through the TSU social media accounts. We can even make a frontpage post about your project. If you’re planning on a contest, PM or email us, or poke us on Discord.

I should add that this should have been addressed by us a lot earlier. I feel like the contest could have done better had you known this beforehand. I’m really sorry it didn’t work out. In the future, we should do better than this and support projects like yours more.

    That sounds amazing!

We had a lot of thunderstorms here lately. Some of them were (for German standards) quite impressive, lighting up the entire night sky. Very pretty.

I find it really disappointing and disheartening that everytime somebody has an issue they come vent to me, but when I try to find someone to talk to the same people suddenly are just REALLY busy with other things. And that the only person that takes the time to listen is the one with the biggest issues themselves.

I shouldn’t have to bother them everytime, but I cannot just keep on keeping my stuff to myself all the time either. This just makes me wanna flip tables.
