ParticipantHey, co-assigner of this mission here! I’d also like to add that this is open to visual artists too! So, if you feel you’d rather illustrate your thoughts on what it means to be a Toy Soldier instead of writing about it, you’re in the right place too! (Though for now, we’re only looking for poll responses. If we get enough interest on this poll, keep an eye out for zine applications!)

ParticipantE.A. Dolby (formerly The Anti-Tim) checking in from the diamond state! To join the chorus of “I’m late”: I’m late! But that doesn’t mean that I’m any less excited to get to work creating art, taking part in missions, meeting new folks, etc. I’ve always been kinda intimidated by Discord, so it’s good to hear that we’ll have more alternate ways to connect with others and contribute to the cause. I am also glad to see our mission of making over the world and building a Utopian play-land being demonstrated with these new objectives! I think the world could really benefit from a positive creative force like us right now. :D

ParticipantAm I too late to say that I’m definitely interested in writing short stories for the 12 Days of Toymas? :D

ParticipantI’m still very much here!! :D
I admit, I kinda prefer the forums to the discord. (Partially because I never think to check Discord, partially because everything happens so quickly. It’s harder to give well-thought out responses or *shivers* introduce yourself. I joined the Discord at one point, but I’m pretty sure I got kicked for never being online. I’m just bad at big fast-paced communities like that.)
Granted, I’m not one of the veteran soldiers, and I’m not on as often as I should be (such is the life of a student), but I’m still here, slowly figuring things out! I have to agree with Howard Mob and Lucanaii, it seems like expanding to mainstream social media and putting ourselves OUT there might put a little bit of pep back into our step, but the forums are so… fun? They hold true to where we came from, I’d hate to see them go.
But uh, rambling. Tl;dr: I’m here, I’m enjoying the community, and I’m also eager to participate in things and keep this wonderful place going! :]

ParticipantToy Soldier confessions. Hmm…
- Every chance I get, I watch the ‘Recently Online’ and ‘Who’s Online’ widgets on the home page. I have yet to actually catch anyone online at the same time as me, (Darn thee, distractions! I don’t need sleep, I just need reassurance that I’m not the only one!), but whenever I log on and notice that the people in the ‘Recently Online’ box have changed, I get a little more giddy than I should.
- I’m… a little ashamed of this, but I have a habit of leaving tabs open, especially multiple forum tabs. So, if it says I’m online at some god-forsaken hour of the night, it’s probably that. (Also one of the reasons I’m constantly in the ‘Recently Online’ box. I’m trying to get better, I swear!)
- I once joined the nearest Legion (Still 1 hr 40 min away rip), and then immediately unjoined 20 minutes later in a panic because I had no idea how Legions worked, and I was afraid someone was going to PM me questioning my actions.
- I’ve… never been to an Invasion. I probably won’t get the chance for a long time. Being the only soldier in my state, (Ah, Delaware, home of empty corporate headquarters and drug addicts.) I’ve basically just been doing one-man invasions at local cons. One day, ONE DAY, maybe someone will host something in Pennsylvania or Maryland. One can dream, I suppose.
- I will never get the Map to show my location. Never. I guess it’s just not possible, no matter how hard I try.
That’s all I’ve got for now!
(I think.)

ParticipantHello!
I’ve been seeing a lot of people who aren’t TECHNICALLY new here, so I’m just gonna hop on that bandwagon. I’m… well, you can see my username. You can call me Tim, you can call me Not Tim, you can call me H.H.C./Hopkins (That makes the most sense in my head for whatever reason, but I figure everyone’s different.), whatever you feel like! I’ve been here for a little over 2/3 of a year (I’ve been a Steel fan for longer, but I honestly had no idea the Toy Soldiers were an actual thing with a website and everything. Yeah, I know, it’s dumb.), but me being me, I’ve been desperately afraid of posting something in the wrong place/being a nuisance/the forums in general. (I’ve posted, like, 3 things? Wow. Go me.
)
Anyway! Hello! I’m an author, a dedicated theatrical performer, and the leader of a legion that almost was. (One more person. ONE MORE PERSON. Although in retrospect, I’m currently the only active one left of our trio, so perhaps it’s for the best.) I plan to bring plenty of propaganda, fun, and all that good stuff. (Kinda hard when you’re the only soldier in your state, and for whatever reason, you don’t even show up on the map. I WILL PREVAIL. THERE WILL BE MANY A CON INVADED BY THE FIRST STATE SOLDIER.)
How do I end this…? Have a nice day, whoever may be reading this! Or night. Or afternoon. (Is this too much? I hope it’s not too much. THIS IS WHY I DON’T POST ON THE FORUMS.)

Participant1: Oh, no. I’ve only just started actually posting to the forums, (which, funnily enough, I’ve been seeing you EVERYWHERE) and I know that I’ll be looking back in a years time wondering what on earth I thought I was doing. As humans, we strive to improve, and once we get used to our improvements, looking back on older things gets progressively more difficult.
2: It depends on your level of inactivity. If you only come on once every rare while, because say, you forgot the forums were a thing for a bit, that’s not bad. However, if you leave for years and years and don’t ever come back, well, that’s your decision, but it does admittedly look a little bad on your Toy Soldier resume to see that you’ve gone AWOL completely without telling anyone. I guess it depends on the case.
Is it bad that I write scenes of my upcoming super secret propaganda novella-thingy with other people’s Toy Soldier personas, BEFORE actually asking them if I can use them? (Whaaaat? People-ing is hard, okay?
)

ParticipantGosh… props? Where do I start?
- Props to all the soldiers on Youtube, who were the ones to first catch my attention. (TSFreakzoid, Jonny B. Goode, oojama9, Scouter 715, etc.)
- Props to all of the wonderful administrators, moderators, coders, and other important people! You guys are what keep us alive and kicking, and that deserves some respect. (AKA I second Lt. Sophie, because DARN you guys are great.)
- Props to everyone on the forums. As a new-ish user, I get a little bit terrified whenever I want to post something, because I’m afraid I’ll put it in the wrong place, or that people will ignore me, or that everyone will criticize me. (Stupid anxiety things, I know, but it still happens.) However, so far, the people here are really nice, and while I still haven’t posted a lot, I feel a little bit better when I do.
- Props to Private Deadsheep, and the rest of my legion that almost was, for reinforcing that this is definitely a commitment that you need to make. (This comment isn’t sarcastic, I really am grateful. Even though some drama does still occasionally go down between Deadsheep and I, I’m thankful that they were there to begin with, even if they never really were that invested, and did lose hope.)
- Props to Rion Vernon, obviously, for dedicating so much of his life, time, and career to us. (Along with Rion, I give props to John Soares and Paul Alborough for really, genuinely bringing joy, amusement, and inspiration to many, many people.)
I have to admit, I’m running out of ways to say “I LOVE EVERYONE IN THE TSU YOU’RE ALL SO CREATIVE AND INSPIRING AND I WANNA BE LIKE YOUUUU”. You can bet that if I ever get the permission (and time) to publish the big propaganda piece that I’ve been working on, there’ll be an extended list along these lines.

ParticipantWow! I was wondering if any other soldiers shared my interest in Steam Powered Giraffe, and lo and behold, I found this thread! Granted, it’s 3 or 4 years old by now, but it’s nice anyway! Out of curiosity, have any of you (or anyone new that stumbles upon this thread) been keeping up with the band recently? (E.G. the comics, any of the new albums, the introduction of their new member, Zero)
