Can I whimper here with the rest of the fossils?
With the reboot of the site, I went ahead and left the Scouts to be a regular Soldier. Couldn’t see myself wearing the scout uniform any more.
I still feel young, and hang with the younglings. But they are starting to call me mom in the fandoms and groups I belong to. Sort of a pleasant shocker.
I’m 45 and will forever be a Toys R’ Us Kid!

When I was young, this thread would have been booming….

    • I am a College Professor and led my class on an invasion — the Chair of the Department caught wind of it and said he thought I was being rather “provocative” with these types of “goings on” — made me laugh. (I am over 35 and have shunned the lawn–yes I am a rebel)

Incurable procrastinator that I am, I’m just getting around to setting myself up on the new site and have actually been a FOSSL for several years. I was born when Harry Truman was president – can anyone top that?

Greetings! I might very well be one of the older fans to join this division, as I recently turned 53 years old. I’m a dedicated fan of science fiction, fantasy, anime and horror, and have been involved with science fiction conventions since 1979. I may be a crusty old curmudgeon in the flesh, but I’ll always be young at heart.

This is a Trilobite Scouts request. I’m not sure what I should say. But I’m 17, yes I know that is rather young to be joining a group like this. I’m not sure what draws me to it, it just sounds as though it would be a group I’d like.

    • Commander JET
      Keymaster

      Hello Dr.Stein!

Well yes you are under the age. It’s 35+ for this group.

It’s just a fun thing to bring us older soldiers together and find each other. But..that doesn’t mean you can’t hang around with us FOSSLs..

Now we are gonna need you to; mow the lawn, take out the trash, rub our bunions, go fetch the aspercreme, etc…You know the fun stuff! wink

Unless you are just here cause you are into older chicks….which is fine with me… cool

OMGeez! Totally had a “Elder Gawds do I feel old” moment yesterday. eek
Was listening to my favourite radio station of classic rock and they played Nirvana on it eekeek
Umm, Nirvana was just making their name when I was in high school. I am not THAT old, sheesh….
      Or maybe I am…

Dag-nabbed kids have no concept of good music these days….sorry but “Blurred Lines” just doesn’t do it for me…give me some “Heart-Shaped Box” and “Lithium”, or “All Apologies” cool

    • Commander JET
      Keymaster

Heh. I was already out of school and in Collage when Nirvana came out…so I feelz ya on that. XD

I can’t listen to much radio music now a days. It all just so bland, common, preformed, voice altered. Nerve racking…Blah! But then again I was never much for the radio.

I don’t mind a good classic rock station every now and again, but I am with you….. most radio is overplayed, over-processed, gentrified garbage.

And well, I have better things to do than listen that.

Cpt. Toby, filling out relevant paperwork.

This is what you get when you go offline for years. The world changes, you have to get a whole new login and find yourself in the old folks home. And the paperwork! Did I mention the paperwork? Not even sure if I get any benefits for all this paperwork.

I done turned 38 last week, so I reckon I belong. Figure I’ll be spending most of my time with the FDC, though, so if you need me, look for me there.

What’ve I been doing all these years? Well, there was this mission to recruit soldiers on online soldier games, and so I was off doing that for several years. I reckon I got a few good soldiers out of that. And we got a steampunk convention going on in these parts and I’ve been stockpiling weapons and engaging in annual Nerf wars for years. They liked how my kids did it last year so much that they want me to do it again this year.

So yeah, I’ve still got my patches and my original ID card (homemade) from back in the day. And seeing as the HQ still stands, I reckon it’s my duty to support the cause: the only army I approve of.

We’ve got your rocking chair here in front of the Bunker’s artificial lawn. The kids come through here every day, and you can either accost them to get off your lawn, or send one of the robots to go do it for you, if you so desire.

Brilliant. I shall polish up my walking stick to wave in the air.
I’ve already put aside a purse full of pennies to pay for my many tins of cat food. I could use some robots to carry that.  I’ve basically been looking forward to this since childhood.

well, here I am…. requesting to join the FOSSL brigade…(born in ’72) For lack of a better term, I’m a Cook, and a rather darn good one if I can toot my own horn for a millisecond. Used to be a part of the old cooks brigade, but I see they are not around anymore.

So……how do you like your porridge? Can whip up a batch of fiber one and prune muffins if you’re feeling a might irregular….

Anyone want a Steel H.O.D.? (that’s Hot pockets O’ Doom for those who don’t know)

Anyhoo, I’m in that “Old” bracket (though mentally, i’m a teenager running with safety scissors, and a whoopee pie) since my brigade has fallen away…Ya need a Cook?bliss_gif

There is also some stick waving involved….. and sometimes, the sudden turning on of the sprinkler system, but that’s only on very special occasions.
