    • So what are you lot all working on in your spare time? Doesn’t have to be TSU related, it can be anything. If you want help with stuff then let us know or proof readers.

      Currently I’m working on:
Gears the Musical Script – A Post-Crisis piece
      TSU Script – Obviously.
Damaged – A play involving Zombies!!!!
Melted Chocolate – A story about three teens who turn killers out of boredom. I kind of want to turn this into a script as well as a story.
The Life and Times of Immortals – Two women who gain immortality together and their lives over the course of several years, up until the world ends.
Dream Borders (working title) – A girl gets a strange parcel from an unknown source. The contents sends her to another world where she meets her familiars and has to learn how to look after herself.

The latter three are all stories that I’ve been working on for a while now. I will eventually get them finished when I get less distracted.

So now its your turn, what are you working on?

I’ve not been doing much writing at all recently. Something about building robots getting in the way.

However, I’ve been plotting out a number of plot lines for the TSU-RP, which is probably going to wind up as a Shadowrun plot.

Also, I’m forumlating a pirate character for a historical fiction work set in the 17th century… but not your standard ‘Hollywood’ pirate, a Mediterranean corsair running out of Algiers. A European, most likely Dutch. Did you know that Algerian pirates raided ICELAND in 1627?

More new work… After stumbling across a retrospective for the artist Moebius, decided to write a little retrospective of exploring a desert

    • I was working on one in particular, a grand adventure fantasy story, and what I hope is my crowning achievement when I’m done. It’s about a girl, a sentient talking blender, and a world beyond the fathoms of our imagination.

But I just found an old intro to a steampunk story I started on, so I may work on both.

Book Project 1 – A fantasy book series with its own universe, involving classical fantasy and also steampunk elements. It has no name yet though.

Book Project 2 – Also fantasy, but more suitable for children, focussing on dreams and their role and importance in our lives. Working title “Nightwatch”.

It’s weird where inspiration comes from.  I mean, first there were “space vikings” and the Mobeius tribute thing I started.  This time, a random lyric in a rave-anthem about being eight-million miles from Earth got me thinking about the Copernicus module and wound up with a scene looking at a cluster of O’Neill cylinders from the vantage-point of a Mars-bound transfer-vehicle in a TL9 near-future.

Novels pushed aside for the moment due to writers block. Instead I am working on a book of Steampunk short stories which all revolve around the same battle.

    • Esotericon: Plotlines and character profiling for a story based convention I am running next year, where the punters decide what decisions each main faction follow to one of several endings.

The Nightmare Auditors: Dream and Nightmare civil servants who protect the vistas of imagination from those who would abuse the power of dreams.

Goblins of Te’Rash: A roleplay game/childrens novels where a race of goblins live on a world that is where a system of enormous portals spews junk everywhere in different categories. Weird fantasy with an environmental twist.

Blog: Working on my blog which I pepper with poetry and flash fiction a couple of times a week at least. Trying to stick with this one as it lets me burn off other small ideas before they can writer’s block my big ones.

KayFabe: A card game where you manage a stable of pro wrestlers, fighting for the best plotlines, gimmicks, wrestler progressions and of course, championship belts.

Esotericon sounds extremely interesting! Let me know how that goes! Those all sound like very good projects!

After watching Winter Soldier the other day, it reminded me about my Black Widow-esque protagonist from the old TSU-RP. I’m going to go back in and rejigger the setup, maybe make this fit into a generic CthulhuPunk universe.

Time for an update I guess….

Esotericon: I pulled the plug after getting a really decent promotion at work and am now a real person having to do much more challenging jobs. That and the kids are getting older and there’s another on the way. Busy day life and all!

The Nightmare Auditors: Plot outline is written, character profiles are more or less in place and I am slowly but surely putting it together. I am looking for people to bounce ideas off and read my drafts though as working in a vacuum sucks! pun intended.

Blog: My blogs are going well. I have one for random stuff, do another for the wife’s works and have now got a movie review/appreciation/trash watching one where I can wax lyrical about films people generally don’t hear about unless they are into that sort of thing.

KayFabe: Shelved for now. The guy I was working on it with is no longer able to do so and while I loved the concept, my heart’s not in it.

Childrens Stories: I write rhyme and poetry a lot, so I have started drafting spooky childrens stories and even a little piece about the robots of the TSU. I’ll see how it goes.

No news on the Goblin one?

    • Good point!

Oddly enough I picked up Goblins again this week and began re reading my notes. I really do think it’s a cracking roleplay setting and I fully intend to keep poking at it so that my children will have something other than DnD to play once they are old and nerdy enough to join their Daddy at the gaming table.

To make it a properly publishable (if that’s a word) roleplay game it needs artwork and more actual rule mechanics (I currently am just writing a bolt on set of rules for Savage Worlds to carry the theme). That’s where I tend to fall short sadly.

Ok, Three separate book idea revolving around in my head, none of which have any kind of relation to each other, One with a relatively well sketched out story line, one with just some ideas written down, and one I came up with at 3am last night…

This thread may be a little slow, but I recently found how to use this website properly, so I guess I’ll post here, haha, I’m working on one series, which is a series of plays, I am currently on the fourth, entitled “Sand & Gravel.” I also have plans to start another series of plays based on corrupt government and political tyrants, but I planned to set it in a fictional world to make the dictators and warlords more personal, with whatever war crimes I could imagine to fit in. I also wanted to write a play set in the early 1900’s Canada, and I thought if whoever be willing, and if I could do it justice, I thought about a play involving Doctor Steel, but in a different light. I wanted to write a play which can show the TSU as an actual organization, not an actual army, but a diplomatic group of peacekeepers. I also wanted to set Steel as the fictional President of a fictional country, using the TSU as his army of peacekeepers with the rest of the world. Above all else, I would like to hear opinions on an idea for a Doctor Steel inspired play, which would show him as something of a big-hearted man who has the best ideas and vision, but whenever he tries to make them work, it causes problems which give him a bad image. The play will never make any decision calling him good or bad, but he will obviously lean toward the TSU, and therefore other characters may often dislike him. I’m open to ideas on how to make this work, because far be it for me to claim the most experience, either in writing or in the TSU. Let me here what you think.

    • First and foremost, I would shy away from anything involving the Doc. He has moved on, for better or worse and I don’t feel any of us has the right to intrude on that.

That said, if you must have the Doc, or someone like him, make them dead or fictional, like 1984’s Big Brother.

Otherwise, the idea of a TSU play totally rocks my boat. Being British I would want to portray us as inept almost to the point of competence, but that’s a cultural trope more than anything else…

Has this got any frame of reference with your Civil Service work?
