*A LETTER FROM THE FORMER CAPTAIN*
      *************************

      Cal·i·for·nia
       /ˌkaləˈfôrnyə/  /-nēə/

“A state in the western US, on the coast of the Pacific Ocean; pop. 33,871,648; capital, Sacramento; statehood, Sept. 9, 1850 (31). Formerly part of Mexico, it was ceded to the US in 1847, having briefly been an independent republic. Large numbers of settlers were attracted to California in the 19th century, esp. during the gold rushes of the 1840s; it is now the most populous state.”

One cannot contradict that California is a cacophony of crazy, creative creatures carefully carving and crafting crucial crevices and crossings conversely to convention. By this I mean we are a unique unison of mutinous mutts, rambunctious revelers, passionate producers, and maniacal madmen (and women). In short: we’re a little nutty, but it’s in a good way.

Out in the Fibonacci Division, we strive for change through innovation, eclecticism, and general merriment. Perhaps we’re all a little wacky from living on the faults, but it’s made for some astounding works. From the film industry to aerospace to solar energy to steel (both the Doctor and the metal), California has always been regarded as the new frontier. Let us conquer through creation, enlighten through entertainment, and succeed through soldierdom.

      xoxo—Captain Nurse Risa

I hate to sound crazy, but how do we “join” Divisions, Ops, etc now?

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Doo Dah pre-registration has been CANCELLED due to a bank glitch. Just bring your $10 registration to the parade with you.

Batty: I think there’s a button on the Divisions/Ops pages that says “request to join” (or words to that effect).

      Div. Meeting 4/19/2012
      New division co-leaders
      Nolin Vultrus (N)
      Caecilia Kolibri (S)

      Fibonacci Calendar:
      Currently in the works.

      New Invasion Layout:
      One per season, excluding Spring
Spring: Disney (Janey) and Doo-dah (Jonny)
      Summer: Comic-con (Cae)
      Autumn: Comikaze Expo (Cae)
Winter: Toys for Tots (Cae and Nolin)
Any other ‘invasions’ will be smaller get togethers and meet-ups organized by soldiers in the area in which it will be held.

      Events:
Dapper day on the Subway in LA, 29th of April, day after Doo-dah, organized by Nolin http://dapperday.railla.org/Dapper_Day/Schedule.html
Venice Beach Surf’s Up invasion? (August 15th, global invasion day)
Toy Soldier Variety Show (Janey, June 16th)
Califur (Cae, first weekend in June, co-meet up with ARK)
Star Wars Day (May the 4th be with you)- Disney? Movie night?

      Comic Con 2012 (Summer)
      Propaganda
      – Kazoos via Oriental Trading
      – Mind control serum (water bottles and stickers)
      – Bubbles! My bubbles!
      – manifestos
      – bookmarks (Nolin)
      – bumper stickers (Jimmy)
      – Prize wheel is a yes. (must obtain toys and prizes…. perhaps Toy Soldier pencils/pens? Army men with TS tags? Decapitated doll heads?)

*Gam3r-con in same area at same time, need to find out price from Van.

      Toys for Tots (Winter)
Nolin and Cae need to look into what we need to do for Toys for Tots.

      Dapper Day (April 29th)
TSU flash mobs (at least 5 people needed)
      A lot of publicity involved

      Finances:
Cae is in the process of making a division bank account and paypal for people to chip in for propaganda funds.
Janey is working on her Fairy Godmother Fund for Disney.

      Fibonacci Map:
One of the biggest issues in the Fibonacci is transportation. I made this map to allow for people to see what soldiers are around them, so they can coordinate rides and pool resources. This also comes in handy when organizing smaller meet-ups, so you can choose a location in the middle of where everyone is.

      Locational Divisions:
Fibonacci is an umbrella division for Southern California. A lot of the invasions we hold are large-scale because of the vast amount of land our division covers. Because of this, I’d like to revive the locational divisions within the Fibonacci, such as in San Diego (The Gaslight Guardians [Thanks DJ Sandman]), L.A., and Ventura.

Upcoming mission (in 5 months): Her Royal Majesty’s Steampunk INVASION!. Just so everyone knows! We were virtually invited to be a part of this event; as Pyrate Daze has been folded into the Symposium, the creator of Pyrate Daze put in a glowing recommend to the creator of the Symposium! So let’s not disappoint!

Has any one considered http://wastelandweekend.com/ ? Its apocalyptic not steam punk, but neither is Dr. Steel. We went last year and had a blast. Thought I’d extend the invitation to our camp site. Oh, and we are gonna spin fire again tonight at south shores!

I found out a couple of days ago that there will be a Steampunk Symposium III next year. Let’s see if we can’t get a table this time!

Also, not sure yet if the Steampunk Symposium and Pyrate Daze will be a merged event again next year; I’ll look into that.

Are there any plans for an event or invasion at Anime Expo this year? I’m planning to attend this convention as well as Comikaze Expo in November.
As a new member of the Fibonacci Division, I would like to offer my place of residence as a gathering place for members who would like to leave their cars in a central location and carpool to places like Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, and other locations Behind the Orange Curtain.

I live in a fairly quiet residential neighborhood with a very low crime rate, so you won’t have to worry about your vehicles.

Have an interesting idea for Comikaze in Los Angeles: with all the media attention attracted by the convention, has anyone thought of staging an event in front of the convention center?

What about having all the Toy Soldiers who can attend the convention showing up in front of the main hall on a Saturday afternoon and performing some improvised street theater to the tune of Back and Forth by Doctor Steel?

We could perform other routines to his music as well as assorted bits of street theater, and while we have the attention of those in attendance we can hand out leaflets, badges, stickers, and anything else appropriate to the cause.

What do you think of this idea?

ALL HAIL DOCTOR STEEL! MAKE HIS UTOPIAN PLAYGROUND A REALITY!

Members of the 1123: Your attention please!

Division #101 The L.A. F.A.U.L.T.S. is proud to announce it’s first theme park invasion! Please join us at Knotts Scary Farm on October 10th to enjoy some fantastic mazes and terrifying scares! We have a reservation for the paid maze Trapped which will accommodate 6 participants (two spots are already filled). If you are interested in joining us as we make our way through the mazes and get spooked on the street please let us know so we can coordinate our adventures. If you’re also interested in joining the party on its way through Trapped, please be prepared to cover your share of the entry cost. The reservation was $60 for 6 people and we already have 2. If we get a group of 6 together it’ll only be $10 each. Admission to Scary Farm is $38 and if we carpool we can keep the parking cost at a minimum.

For up to date information and to keep everything in one, easy to find place, please visit the Division #101 forum here for any replies, questions, comments, or general goofy-ness.

ATTENTION L.A. FAULTS AND FIBONACCI DIVISION!

Could I have a head count of how many people are going to attend Comikaze at the end of this month? I’d like to organize a bit of street theater in front of the Convention Center and I’m wondering if anyone would be interested. How about a little bit of song and dance to the tune of Back and Forth recorded by our fearless leader, Doctor Steel?
