A Supreme Steamcon III

Many Toy Soldiers identify strongly with the steampunk style, so it is no surprise that such soldiers would convene at this year’s SteamCon III in Seattle, Washington, from October 14 through 16, 2011. This year’s theme was 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea with musical guests Vagabond Opera. The semi-spontaneous invasion featured badge ribbon propaganda in TSU colors along with the more traditional items.

SteamCon is not a fabulous setting for fans of the steampunk genre, but it is also a wonderful hub for the artistic community. Artists in every genre from literature to acting troupes were present to share their talents, and Airship Awards were presented to the best of the best. For those in the Washington state area looking for a place to share your artistic abilities, check out next year’s event October 26 through 28, 2012. You are sure to find several soldiers, and possibly one clad in kilt, to accompany your embracement of the creative works.

As a bonus, rather unique addition to the invasion, fez-wearing Reverend Geoff Nicholson officiated the wedding of YellowJacket Toy Soldiers Emily and Roman, two long-time loyals of the TSU community. A congratulations to the happy couple; may your marriage be 20,000 leagues long, and may your life together be full of fun and free spirits.
