In late May 2011, over 20 Toy Soldiers from as far as California gathered for a three-day invasion of the annual MCM Expo in London, England. With 40,000 expo attendees, our troops dispersed thousands of propaganda paraphernalia, including manifestos, business cards, and DVDs. They also collected numerous e-mail addresses of interested potential soldiers. As per usual, Monte brought a museum’s worth of propaganda and Steel-themed accessories to decorate the table and entertain the crowd.
There were reports of numerous Bubble Blitzes and glorious pip badges. Rare soldiers, well-known soldiers, cuddly soldiers, crazy soldiers… and something about red fish blue fish, I’m sure. Friday night’s post propagandizing party consisted of spirits, with a traditional toast to the late Col Necro, along with a lot of friendly bonding.
On Saturday, Gunner Jack M. E Raptor was noted for his initiative in perfectly propagandizing the patrons of the ExCel Center. He has made his peers particularly proud. Post invasion, libations were once again partaken of in the park with much merriment all around.
Sunday, the final day of the invasion, was particularly exciting for the enthusiastic bunch because Geekworld interviewed them for an Internet and podcast release that has already brought in more recruits.
The event concluded with long-time soldier YJ B’s announcement of retirement, returning her yellow jacket badge to the nearest mod. A unanimous decision determined that Monte should receive the award at once for the countless achievements and admirable efforts he’s put in over the years. Thank you for your service, dear Brit. Reports also indicate that the eccentric innovator streaked in celebration. Though photographic proof is yet to be confirmed, the robot that carries dear Monte around is said to have documented the entire scene in his database for “later personal viewing.”
As per usual, many friendships were gained, new members recruited, and much fun had by all. This invasion has been brought to you by Division 118 TSU-UK.
