Operation Vaudeville

0 14 years ago

On Sunday, May 2nd, the very Toy Soldier-friendly steampunk chanteuse, MADemoiselle Veronique Chevalier held one of her famous vaudeville shows in Echo Park, California. Several months prior to this event, Ms. Chevalier had personally written Dr. Steel inquiring as to whether Toy Soldiers would be able to participate in this production. As a friend of Veronique’s, Sky Marshal Jonny B. Goode accepted this invitation as a viable brainwashing endeavour!

The evening’s entertainment was headlined by popular steampunk cellist group Unwoman, which was accompanied by other talented groups and acts including Weasels Exist, Vixen Magdalene (who danced to “The Dr. Steel Show”), Lavendar La Rue, and magician, ventriloquist and sword-swallower Markham The Miracle Man! Veronique herself performed with the help of a robotic assistant, and Jonny B. Goode entertained with “The Dr. Steel Blues.”

The highlight and climax of the evening (after overcoming some technical difficulties involving robot malfunctions, as usual) was the screening of “Building a Utopian Playland” and “The Dr. Steel Show” (episodes 1 and 2), all of which had the audience in stitches! Following these screenings, Sky Marshal Goode led the audience in singing Happy Birthday to Veronique, as it was her birthday, and sharing in some champagne and cupcakes (with sprinkles!…and no hamsters!).

Sgt. Madcap was on hand throughout the event to handle the merchandise table, which delivered numerous audio CDs, propaganda DVDs, and stickers to performers and audience members!

Veronique extened her thanks to the Toy Soldiers for their participation in her show, saying, “This was my favorite show ever!!!! Merci encore!!!!” Comments from the attendees afterward were reported to be equally glowing. “ALL the entertainment was so wonderful, I couldn’t possibly single any one out above the rest, but I do have to just mention that the Dr. Steel videos were so OMG!, gut-busting, fall-off-your-chair funny!” “Dr. Steel’s videos … got the crowd in a laughing riot.”
