Invasion: Polaris 2009 - Success!

From July 10th through the 12th, Col. Canker Canison, Sgt. 2x2, and Elizalavelle of Division 315 invaded Polaris23. Elizalavelle worked undercover as a convention employee throughout the event while Canker and 2x2 performed freelance Toy Soldier-ing!

Personnel, time, and money constraints dampened the Saturday morning “prop parade," but not the spirits of these optimistic Toy Soldiers, who handed out nearly every scrap of propaganda that they brought with them, were recognized as Toy Soldiers twice, functioned as key photo ops themselves numerous times, and were part of the slide show during the Saturday night dance!

Canker and 2x2 were both photographed, in uniform, with actress Claudia Black (Vala Mal Doran, Stargate SG-1) while getting autographs, and though Ms. Black did not have time to chit chat, she seemed to take delight in the uniforms.

On Sunday, Canker and 2x2 took over a side corridor where hotel staff had placed a piano and turned it into an Officers’ Lounge. Canker tried to pose dashingly by the piano as 2x2 flexed her skills with a tickle of the ivories. Later on Sunday, Toy Soldiers also stopped a would-be thief from walking off with a backpack from a cancer awareness booth.
